Today's stage at Dauphine Libéré was a tough one,with the Izoard climb in the finale and the climb up to the city of Briançon.

After 17 km,14 men (Garate,Gorka Verdugo,Goubert,Vaugrenard,Bingen Fernandez,Van De Walle,Tuft,Fedrigo,Santambrogio,Steegmans,Zberg,Kuchinsky,Bak and Alberto Fernandez de la Puebla) went away.At the end of the climb,there were just 5 men left at the head of the race and they were Fedrigo,Van de Walle,Garate,Verdugo and Goubert.Bak was just behind them and managed to join them on the descent towards Briançon.In the main group, Mikel Astarloza was the only one who attacked.
At a certain point Van de Walle decided to attack and left the breakaway companions behind.He was caught by Fedrigo just few meters before of the finish line and the Frenchman outsprinted him,taking the stage victory.Goubert came in 3rd,while Garate was 4th.Sexy Banker Lars Bak came in 5th,25 seconds behind the winner.
Evans,Valverde and Contador crossed the finish line together 4 minutes after the winner.
Ivan Basso left the race yesterday because of a flu.

I think Dauphiné Libéré is a very nice race,there are always good climbs in it.
RispondiEliminaLast year Chris-Anker Sorensen achieved his first victory between the pros in that race but I couldn't see him winning because I was on holiday.How annoying!!
