Picspam time: wonderful pictures of Jakob Fuglsang (kindly offered us by Mar)!

Dear readers, as you may think, winter is a hard time for us bloggers: there are no daily interesting news, there are no races, we have to study/work a lot without the distraction of cycling... And things can even get worse when, after watching Tim De Waele/Corvos' pictures from Curaçao, you realise that those two photographers took very few photos of Jakob Fuglsang, one of the best (and hottest) riders of Cycledom (and great friend of Andy Schleck too).
To put a remedy to this lack of pictures from Curaçao, our great blogmate Mar has sent me some amazing pictures of Jakob that I had never seen before. They're very nice, so I owe a big 'THANK YOU!!!' to our friend Mar (thank you very much, these pictures really made the day of this Fangirl =)
And now, let's enjoy the view girls!

First of all, here's a picture of Jakob looking very cool and lovely. As Mar pointed out, the boy's got a nice fashion sense (Dolce& Gabbana's scarf, a simple t-shirt, nice shoes...). Andy, I think we've found you a new personal shopper! ;)

Another nice pic of Jakob, still wearing very cool clothes. And the landscape is very nice too.
Jakob and Andy Schleck at sea (or, at least, I think so). Again, very good clothes' choice (and very skinny legs ;).
Our boy's putting a wheel on his bike and showing us that he knows how to wear jeans. Can we help you, Jakob? ;) What a lovely smile!
In the picture below, you can see Jakob's wearing the new Team Luxembourg kit (I'm joking). I love his expression and the bike he's riding (the pink bell is great)!
Jakob laughing at a joke.
Jakob wearing the infamous Claudia Schiffer's t-shirts, but looking very good anyway.

The famous 'zzzzzz I'm sleeping' picture. Let's just hope that our boy didn't fall of the couch ;)
And a last pic of Jakob...I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I did. Jakob is very good-looking and so it' always nice to see pictures of his. The comments I made to the pictures may sound a bit too fangirlistic, but I'm a girl who hasn't seen any cycling race for the last 20 days, therefore, I beg you to be clement with me.

Before of ending this post, however, I thank Mar once again. She made a great work by collecting the pictures and she also gave me inspiration as far as the pictures' captions are concerned. Thank you again girl!

PS: as I said in the first lines of this post, I've run out of ideas lately, so if any of you readers have some ideas for new posts, feel free to tell me!

  1. Thank you Mar for the lovely pictures and thank you Fede for running out of ideas ;-) He's so good-looking you forgive him the slightly overdone eyebrows :P

  2. How about a profile on Matti Breschel? I quite like him as well. It's such a shame Team Sexybank had to break up like it has (even though most are with Team Lux now). A

  4. @ Francesca: Mar was really great in collecting the pictures :) And yes, I often run out of ideas, especially when I'm as busy as now.
Jakob's eyebrows are a bit strange, but I think that you can forgive everything to a boy with such a stunning smile :)

@ A: I'll try to work on a Breschel's picspam too. It may take time, so if some of you already have some interesting pictures of Matti, I'd be very happy if you could give me the links (or the pictures).

I agree with you about the very sad end of Saxo Bank. Team Luxembourg may be nicknamed 'Luxalicious', but 'Sexy Bank' was a much better name imo. And in Sexy Bank there was also Matti, who's now joining Rabobank :(

@ Anonimo: thank you very much for the nice link. Btw I agree with Andy: compared to Chris Sorensen, Jakob is a more complete rider and, imo, he could also end up on a GT's podium one day.

I can not stop collecting the best of Jakob ;)
We saw a lot of pictures of cyclist at the curacao beach, but we missed Jakob. Well, this video is much better than pictures! I have no idea what he's saying but that doesn't matter!

I'm glad you liked it and I might be making more picspams for Fede ;)

  6. @ Mar: probably that's the most fangirl-friendly video I've ever seen (and I've seen many fangirlistic videos over the last years).Oh, and I love Frank's (or Andy's?)socks at the end :)

After watching your vid I've found this other one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi5agsiN5lw&feature=related (also Jakob is in it). The great news is that Frank Schleck likes Foo Fighters and that Andy likes Guns'n'Roses. I was afraid they liked just dance music, and instead they also listen to good rock music (and Matti said he likes blues, wow)!

  7. Imo Andy needs to be musically re-educated :P I find dance music in general a bit ripetitive (but that's the point I think ;-)) and shallow, but probably it helps a lot to keep a rhythm.
I think Quinziato has the best musical taste.

  8. I don't like dance music either, so Andy's love for Guns'n'Roses reassured me a lot about his musical taste.
Quinziato has a very good musical taste, but also Matti Breschel listens to good music (http://gaffa.dk/artikel/40670 ).

  9. I'm not gonna judge their music taste. I mean, they won't like my mucis either!

    RispondiElimina
  10. @ Mar: you're right, but knowing that good-looking and funny guys listen to dance music is always a bad blow for me;)

  11. I know it's an old post, but I were just googling.. Hehe..

I'm Danish. The old man in the video is a former elite soldier called BS Christiansen. He was their mental coach.

    Here is what they say:

BS (only voice): Afterwards there's 4 exercises: The 1th is a diving exercise where the team who swim the most underwater lanes will win.

Text: Jako Fuglsang. Huge talent. Experts think he can win the Tour someday.

Jakob: There's rings on the bottom (of the pool) and we have to swim through 'em.

BS (voice only): Here you also see the individuel psycologial pressure because some of them can't even swim. And then we see how they motivate each other.

Jakob: I'm not a "water dog" (means someone who loves and spends lots of time in the water) but it's gonna be fun anyway. I haven't tryed it before, but I were snorkling a lot with Fränk and Andy a short time ago.

BS(voice only): Jakob have exactly what it takes. He's a young guy... He wants this... He's not on this cyckling team just to be a bike rider, but because he wants something... He wants to progress...

Jakob talking to BS: When there's no more rings it's hard to continue 'cus you can't tell you self to take the next step.

BS: Then you just go as far as you can.

Jakob: So it's just to the end .. and then just back again..

BS: (Sorry, I can't hear what he's saying)

Jakob: oh, I think it's gonna be a long distance...

BS: But you do it. Nice and calm.

    Jakob: I'm gonna try...

BS: He's a good team player. I't good to have him on a team. He tells clearly what he wants. And you have to take care not to suppress that.. You have to make it grow.. In Jakob and also in some of the other guys. That they dare to "assert themselvs" (I'm not sure this is the right translation - it's meant in a positive way).

Jakob: If you are new on the team, like I were last year, then it's a great way to get to know the other guys. It's easier to get to know them this way than if you are just on the roads riding next to the same guy in 3 hours.

  12. And did you know that "fugl" means "bird" and "sang" means "song"?

  13. @ Kat: Thank you very, very much for the translation of that video, dear!
We all went bananas when we saw it for the first time (and also for the second one and for the third one XD), but most of us never managed to understand what BS and Jakob were talking about. But now, thanks to you, we 've understood it. Yay! :)

Thank you very much also for giving us the meaning of Jakob's surname. I already knew it, but many people probably didn't. Italian chronists at the Tour, for example, discovered about it just yesterday, after chatting with Rolf Sorensen.

From your comments, I can understand that you're a Jakob's supporter ;) (hope I'm right!) If you want to know more about him and watch other videos / pictures, I suggest you scrolling this webpage up and checking the list of links at your right. Some of the blogs filed under 'Favourite Tumblrs' in fact dedicate a lot of space to Jakob!
For example, take a look at 'Just Fulgen', at 'The ornithologist' and at 'Mar's blog on Tumblr'. Moreover, I suggest you taking a look also at http://dullemarulle.tumblr.com/ .
If my suspicion is correct and you're a supporter of Jakob, you're gonna have a lot of fun on this websites (or, at least, that's what I hope)!

  14. Who isn't fan of this cutie :p Even my mom thinks he's hot. I'll tjek out the links. Thanks.

I felt really sorry for you guys who didn't understand what they said in the video... Do you have anything else i Danish you want me to translate?

I hope his back/hip gets better. I want to look at him for many, many years ;) He gives the Tour a whole new dimension.. Hehe

I've told him to tjek out the guy who fixed my back some years ago, if anything else doesn't work. This guy has worked with other Danish top athlets.

I still think it's wierd that I ACTUALLY send him that message.. But I really, really hope that he will recover...

The Danish television station TV2 has just said they're gonna cover the Giro next year. YEAR! More cycling in my TV :)

  15. Jakob makes everyone agree about his cuteness ;)

Thank you very, very much for offering to help us with translating the Danish stuff, but right now I can't think of anything that you could translate... If I need some help, I'll surely say it!

Cyclists often have problems with their back :( Hopefully Jakob will get better soon, los Schlecks (and LT's supporters) need him in good shape if they want to win the Tour!

Riders don't always answer messages from supporters, but I'm sure that they read them. Hopefully Jakob will follow your advice and he will have his back fixed. After all, fangirls can't stand the sight of their favourite cyclists suffering!

Yay for all the Danish cycling lovers!! It was a shame that TV2 didn't broadcast the Giro this year, so I'm glad to know that they're showing it on tv next May! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun during the Giro, imo it's the most exciting GT of the year! :)

    RispondiElimina
  16. Tomorrow is rest day, so I would have a whole lot of time to translate things...

I don't think, he'll answer (I actually don't know what I should do or say or anything else, if he did...), but I just had to tell him about this opportunity. That guy can make miracles.

As you probally know, there will be 3 stages of the Giro 2012 in Denmark (and they are actually pretty close to where I live - I didn't know that before), and I just read in one of the blogs that Jakob might be captain in the Giro next year. Thanks again for the links. Lots of nice pics :D

Untill now I haven't seen a link to the famous massage video so here it comes, but you have to be located i DK or use a Danish VPN to see it.
    It's the first 3 minutes.

  17. I know about those stages in Denmark and I'm very happy about them :) There are many strong Danish cyclists right now and Denmark is showing a great interest in this sport.
I'm sure that the Worlds in Copenhagen will be a success and that the Giro stages will be just as successful! And then, a guy like Breschel this year may also have the chance of becoming World Champion...How cool would that be? ;)

The girls who run those tumblrs are all very nice and they're true Jakob' supporters, so I'm happy that you enjoyed their websites!

As predictable, that vid doesn't work here in Italy :( But still, I'll point it out to my readers in my new post - I'm sure that someone will manage to see it!!

    RispondiElimina
  18. The first time I heard about the Giro in Denmart, I thought if was an Aprils fool, because it was on the 1st of April. The medias usually comes up with crazy, fantasy stories on this day.

I can recommend the OverPlay VPN. I've used it to watch British programmes, and it has a server in Denmark. But it's 10 $ a month. Hehe, maybe everybody who wants to see the video can split the bill ;)

In this interview ( http://tour.tv2.dk/article.php/id-41813526:f%C3%B8dsel-kan-ikke-f%C3%A5-chris-anker-hjem.html ) "your boyfriend" Chris Anker Sørensen says he's gonna finish the Tour even if his girlfriend gives birth to their daughter before the Tour is over. For this reason he has a special phone where only his girlfriend knows the number.

In the last part he just says he thinks the Alps is gonna be very interesting.

    Kat

    RispondiElimina
  19. I think it must have been very strange for you Danes to hear that the Giro was heading towards you! ;)

10 $ a month? Considering that I don't bring any help to the economical resources of my family, I'm afraid I'll give up watching that video :(

Thank you so much for that interview! So they're waiting for a daughter, how nice!
I'm sure that it must be terrible for Chris, being miles far from house and knowing that your girlfriend could give birth to your first daughter at every given moment!
I hope the little one won't make a bad joke to daddy and that she'll decide to make her great appearance on the world stage after the end of the Tour!

If Contador rides as he did this afternoon, I'm sure that the Alps will be super interesting!!

  20. I got a new idea..

I'll record the massage part of the programme on my own camera and upload it to youtube before the end of the week. Right now I'm at my parants, and my camera is in my apartment.

    Stay tuned :)

    Kat

    RispondiElimina
  21. That's a great idea, I'd be very happy if you could upload that vid on YT
    !
I'll surely stay tuned, although I'm afraid I won't be able to watch that vid soon because I leave for a holiday on Friday evening!
