Said news,Fangirl would dare to say, is a bit worrying.In fact,considering that Andy thought of Volta a Catalunya as a very important race to build up his form,I don't know what to think of his retire.Of course he keeps on saying that everything's ok with him,that the training is alright,that his knee has recovered and so on,but a part of me (the one also known as "Fangirl") is a bit worried.In fact she believes that Andy's retires (from Giro del Friuli to Sanremo,passing through Eroica) aren't good not just for reasons connected to his preparation to the Classics,but also because,in her opinion,they are bad also from the psychological point of view.In fact,if Fangirl were Andy,she'd probably feel frustrated,worried and also a bit anxious right now.
Anyway,as Logic is trying to tell Fangirl in this moment,it's probably better to wait until we know a bit more before of getting worried about Andy' stomach problems. In fact I'm sure he'll soon tell us through Twitter what has happened to him this morning.And,if he says "don't worry",I'll probably force Fangirl to follow his advice.After all,the European weather has been very strange over the last few days and Andy might have come down with a flu or something similar just because of this.And then,there is still a month before of the Ardenne's classics and Andy's form improved a lot during the Tirreno-Adriatico.
So,Schleck's supporters out there,my advice for you is: wait until we know a bit more about Andy's problems.In fact,jumping 'round the house/the office/the classroom/the garden/ whatever else screaming "Waaa the season is ruined!!!" as Fangirl wanted me to do until few seconds ago,is a completely unrational behaviour.And,as well as making you look like an idiot,it is also useless.
PS: Yes,I'm trying to be optimistic.Does it show?
I think that Andy's probably a bit worried too,but he probably doesn't want to show it because he's an optimistic guy and also because,after all,he still has some time to catch up with the right condition before of Liége.Anyway,if he says he's confident,I think we must trust him.After all,his condition might be better than what we think and when you're young and talented it's much easier to find the right form in few days.

RispondiEliminaThat's a good question! Stupid germs...Why can't they come to my school and attack some teachers rather than keeping on disturbing Andy? In that way they'd do a big favour to the school community and a big favour to Andy's supporters at the same time.
