"Wouter has never gone away, he's remained with us on every single stage and he's become the most loved rider of the Giro. Everyone of us could see his name written on the roads, his race number repeated without a pause. On a sheet of paper, on a message written by a group of children, on the roof of a country house, always in memory of Wouter. His presence inside the peloton has become stronger and stronger. His memory strikes us and saddens us in different ways, but there's one thing that unites us all: his absence. The peloton isn't the same anymore, now that it's lost a man. But his memory has got us as close as never before, as no one else could have done. We'll meet us again in the next race. Rest in peace, Wouter'
